About me
Amy Jurrens represents the Iowa area education agencies on the IASB Board of Directors. She began her service on the IASB Board in 2008 as the District #1 Director in northwest Iowa for six years, followed by a six-year tenure as president-elect, president and past-president. She has served as the AEA representative to IASB since 2020 and serves as chair of the IASB Governance and Bylaws Committee.
Jurrens currently serves on the Northwest AEA Board of Directors (2019 to present). She previously served on the George-Little Rock Schools Board of Directors from 1999-2015.
She teaches English and Communications at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, Iowa. Jurrens received her Master of Arts degree in English from South Dakota State University. She and her husband, Jerry, own and operate Jurrens Funeral Homes in northwest Iowa communities.
Jurrens serves as chair on the IASB Governance and Bylaws Committee.
She has earned fourteen Annual Board Awards for her ongoing commitment to learning. This award is given annually to individual board members who participate in a minimum of 15 hours of IASB-led learning opportunities.
Jurrens lives in her hometown of George, Iowa.
