About me
Jim Green is currently serving as past president on the IASB Board of Directors. He began his service on the IASB Board in 2009, representing Iowa’s nine area education agencies. Green served on his local school board from 1992-2009 and has served on the Grant Wood Area Education Agency board since 1995—he is the current board vice president.
He worked in program management and marketing departments of the avionics industry for Rockwell Collins, Inc. for 29 years. Green received his MBA degree from Southern Illinois University—Edwardsville after serving in the United States Air Force. He is an active community volunteer and a former adjunct instructor at Kirkwood Community College.
Green completed IASB’s Academy of Board Learning Experiences I and I certification, a now-shuttered in-depth training program for school board members. He is chair of Iowa School Cash Anticipation Program (ISCAP), a Trustee on the Iowa Schools Joint Investment Trust (ISJIT) and is a member of the Compensation and Benefits Committee. Green also serves on the statewide Educator Leadership and Compensation Commission.
He has earned 19 Annual Board Awards for his ongoing commitment to learning. This award is given annually to individual board members who participate in a minimum of 15 hours of IASB-led learning opportunities.
Green lives in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
